Botond had put off having his teeth straightened for more than ten years because, elsewhere, two of his healthy teeth would have had to be extracted to correct the chaotic crowding. We, however, provided him with a tooth-extraction-free alternative using invisible Invisalign aligners, and completed the treatment in just one year instead of the planned two. In his case, the narrow upper dental arch and the misaligned midline made eating seriously difficult, whilst the neck muscle spasms resulting from his malocclusion caused him agonising headaches lasting for days during stressful periods.The key to this rapid success was Botond’s incredible discipline; whether in the portable toilets on band tours, at the Sziget Festival or on a 14-hour flight, he adhered uncompromisingly to the strict cleaning routine and the use of rubber bands. With his bite stabilised, not only did his long-standing chronic headaches disappear, but his jaw finally found its proper position. Botond used to cover his mouth in photos, but today he goes about his daily life with a beaming smile, and his youngest child will only ever know his father’s confident smile.
