Pursuant to Government Decree 301/2021 (1.VI.), the placing on the market of the following single-use plastic devices will be prohibited from 1 July 2021:
- Plastic cutlery, plates
- Plastic straws, stirrer sticks
- Expanded polystyrene food/drink containers, cups
- Ear cleaners
- Balloon anchors and sticks
- Plastic bags with a wall thickness between 15-50 microns
- Oxide-active biodegradable plastics
- (Hungarian legislation also includes restrictions on the use of other types of plastic bags.)
- An essential part of the regulation is that it prohibits the marketing of devices.
Placing on the market means making the product available on the market for the first time.
However, the Regulation does not address marketing.
Another important addition is that the scope of the Regulation does not cover medical devices, and unfortunately, the beverage cup made of non-expanded polystyrene + its lid and top have been postponed until 1 January 2023.
However, regulation or not, we have been trying to run our studio in an environmentally responsible way from the very beginning. Protecting our environment cannot be achieved by regulation. It has to be a matter of principle.
It is terribly sad to see that in such a fine profession as dentistry, many are still stuck in the last century and put doing the right thing before economic factors.
Every thoughtful small step counts. Keep your eyes open and act green in all areas of life. 🙂
