The teeth do not fit together properly, congestion appears and on the sides we see the lower teeth biting outside the upper ones. This phenomenon can appear on one or both sides.

In the other case we are talking about anterior crossbite, also known as bulldog bite. The front teeth are affected, the lower front teeth bite in front of the upper teeth. Both cases are caused by underdevelopment of the upper dental arch, which may be caused by the inadequate function of the tongue, and less commonly by genetic inheritance.
