How to use it?
We use rubber rings of different diameters in different shapes according to the specific treatment phases. Always use them for the time and in the shape prescribed by your orthodontist. Have you ever heard the terms triangle or box gum?
There are 3 very important things to know about tyre pulling:
1. You'll have to carry them in. YOU!:)
The first few days can be a slight inconvenience, as can the first few days after activating the arches or using the new rails. However, if you wear it persistently, you can get used to it. In the beginning, it can be more difficult to get it in the right place, it will bounce and slip off. It's all a matter of practice.
2. You should wear it as prescribed by your doctor (most often all day!!). Why?
During tooth movement, the bone tissue around the root is remodelled. This process, in turn, requires a constant application of force. That's why it doesn't work if you only put it in overnight, or wear it one day and then not for two days.
It is recommended to take it out only for meals and when brushing your teeth.
3. Wear it in the right shape.
At the end of your appointment, please always make sure you know which tooth to hang from where. I suggest you take a photo, make a note of the animal or size indicated on the packaging!
How does the orthodontist know you didn't wear it?
Simply because what the doctor has planned will not happen until the next time. This will prolong the duration of the treatment. I like to say that we are a team.
If you wear your rubber with precision, you will contribute to a dynamic and fast treatment and a beautiful result.
Is it necessary to wear it throughout the treatment?
This will depend on the complexity of the bite variation and the management objectives set out in the management plan.
In some cases, it must be worn for all or at least most of the treatment, in other cases when using certain archwires or, in the case of aligners, when moving certain teeth etc..
Is it required for all types of equipment?
