Summer is here again, the festivals are buzzing and the holidays are starting.
What to look out for in your braces during this period?
1. Always have your rail box with you!
On holiday or at a festival, our daily rhythm is usually disrupted, and so are our meals. The With Invisalign you are completely free to eat any food you want, at any time. All you have to do is remove the rails.
But where do we put them?
The most hygienic and safest way is to put it in the little box we gave you. Alligners wrapped in a quick napkin or paper towel very often end up in the bin. Whether it's the waiter rinsing the table while you're in the washroom, or the napkin stuffed in your pocket or bag, a reflex action lands it in the bin with your forgotten splints. All Invisalign owners are familiar with these situations I think. Always try to store your splints in the box of the holder!
2. Take extra rails with you!
Even on a one-week holiday, take extra rails. Either the previous pair, or if you've thrown them out, the next in line. This comes in super handy in case the situation described above has happened to you.
3. Don't forget your small cleaning kit, have your toothbrush with you!
On holiday, it's quite common to walk all day, go on excursions, get involved in evening parties. 🙂
It's a great idea to have your oral care kit with you. So you can clean your teeth wherever you are and get on with your day feeling super fresh. Try to wear your braces only on clean teeth. In the event that there's no opportunity to brush your teeth, a thorough rinse + flossing can save your life until the next time you need a thorough cleaning.
4. Pay attention to the wearing time of the rails!
In such cases, the 22 hours a day may not be enough. It's not a tragedy, just a few things you need to pay attention to consistently. Make sure you put your rails on for bedtime, however late/early you go to bed. 🙂 During the day, try to take them out only for mealtimes. If you can't get the 22 hours a day, expect to wear the pair of splints for a week longer.
+1 Watch out for coloured, sugary and alcoholic drinks.
If an iced coffee or an aperol spritz occasionally rolls off the rails, try to brush your teeth as soon as possible. When you do this, clean the trays extra thoroughly so that no liquid remains in/on them.
