So choose your toothbrush wisely!

So choose your toothbrush wisely!

If you're about to buy a toothbrush and you care about your health and the environment, the following tips will help.

1. Choose an electric toothbrush.

An electric toothbrush is a long-term investment. The environmental benefit is that you only have to throw the replacement head in the bin. On the positive side, there are now variations that are plant-based or made from recycled plastic.
We recommend electric toothbrushes for people who are not so dexterous, may have a tendency to brush vigorously and have difficulty deciding which type of toothbrush is right for them.
Most of them have timers and pressure sensors. The spare head itself should be small and have soft bristles.

2. Choose a bamboo toothbrush.

The eco-friendly, natural toothbrush handle is plastic-free and biodegradable, made from a rapidly renewable material, 100% bamboo. The bristles are made of BPA-free Nylon and are available in medium hard and soft. Most are packaged in a box made of recycled cardboard.

We recommend replacing it after 3 months. When worn, use pliers to remove the plastic bristles or break off the head, and simply compost the handle.

3. Choose a beechwood toothbrush.

The wooden toothbrush handle is made of beech wood from sustainable forestry in Europe and the bristles are made from sterilised, cleaned bristles of a long-haired pig breed or Nylon.
The pig-bristle version can be used for up to a year with proper care and use, and is perhaps the only toothbrush that can be composted in 100%.
